5 tips to stick to your New Year's Resolutions

Every year millions of people start off the new year with at least one resolution, or commitment toward better change in their lives. It could be losing weight, quitting smoking, taking up a new hobby , going to the gym, starting a long-put-off project or doing a daily random act of kindness. Unfortunately, just as many people give up their resolution while still snow on the ground.  Still others don’t even make resolutions for fear of not sticking with them as they’ve done in the past.
Want to learn how to really stick with your resolution? Here are five tips to get you going:

1. WRITE it
Writing down your resolutions (or printing them out) is important.  This makes them more concrete than just in your mind. Make a few copies and keep one with you, or in a wallet. Keep another somewhere very visible, like hanging on the refrigerator. Keep a third on your nightstand. You can also buy a journal and write in it daily how you did , what actions you took and how you felt.
2. SAY it
Make yourself accountable to friends and family by telling them your resolutions this year. Usually when we go public with our goals, we work harder to reach them. You can even post them on Facebook and offer weekly updates on how you are doing in reaching your goals. You’ll find that the support of friends really makes you want to keep going and do better. It also just makes us feel good to have people standing by us.
3. REPEAT it
Re-read and speak aloud your resolutions daily. In the morning, and again at night before bed. Keep them clear in your head so as you go about your day, so you know what your daily goals are and how you will reach them.
4. LIVE it
Take daily action.  Even baby steps are forward movement. It’s about getting closer to your ultimate goals by  making those changes a daily habit and living in such a way that it becomes a lifestyle, whatever “it” is.  If your resolution is to quit smoking, then take it an hour at a time. If it’s more general, like “to be a kinder person” – try writing down a list of 10 things you can do each day. Then check off your accomplishments until your daily tasks become daily habits.
5.  BELIEVE it
When making your resolutions, it’s important to really believe in yourself and KNOW that you can stick to them and do it. When that doubt comes in , refer back to writing, reading, talking about it and re-wiring yourself to be more confident that you can make resolutions and stick to them.

Working at home, greener living, spiritual growth, and super recommended resources

I haven't blogged in too long but here I am. Revved up and feeling such ENERGY and LOVE and excitement for what I do.   I'm super excited to see my SuccessForMom Facebook page growing and to be able to connect with so many moms out there that I'd have never met if it wasn't for the internet (mwah Facebook!)

I'm glad you are here, reading, because I have some SUPER RESOURCES below to share with you if you are interested in working at home, non toxic skin care, herbal remedies, natural and organic living, self-growth and spirituality! whew- all that great great stuff that excites me every day! Does it excite you too?

I love social media. I've met amazing people online and I've been able to grow my businesses over the years online. Oh! and the things I have learned, super articles I've read by talented bloggers and of course Pinterest (LOVE those recipes!)

Today I wanted to shamelessly (but briefly) talk about a few things, including my company, because, well, simply, I love it.
And it's not MINE per se, but the company I am proud to be an independent consultant and the first Group Leader in my area with. I wanted to tell you what working at home has done for so many people including myself.

I love the freedom home business allows for moms.

I love how we can invest as little or as much time as we want and reap the rewards accordingly.

In the past 15 years, I've helped women earn money. For the last 2, I've been with NYR and get to share this award winning global line and help women earn money doing the same.

But one of the most EMPOWERING things that comes from home business is the PERSONAL growth many people experience.

Whether it's the little bit of confidence one gets from being able to talk to strangers as they share their line, or the huge step into a leadership role including public speaking and leading large teams.

Or maybe it's the spiritual side of it-the delving into the WHY'S and  the who am I's? Finding passions and chasing dreams. Becoming confident. Learning that the GROWTH happening is more than the end result. The growth happening to YOU comes first  and then the BUSINESS growth happens.

The person you were meant to be emerges and shapes your days better than you ever thought it could be.

But whatever it is, whatever you call it,  let me tell you, it's magic. Pure magic.

I've seen so many women in home business turn to training that starts as direct sales training but veers off to self-help guru's like Jack Canfield, Wayne Dyer and Jim Rohn, to mention just a few.

And the really COOL part is, as you grow YOU, your business takes off. As you get in alignment, all wonderful things start to happen.

The FLOW of it all is exciting and beautiful.

It's like the BUTTERFLY EMERGING!

What I've also found is that if you have a company you are passionate about, it's easy to wake up excited and grow that business! For some people, it's a great product line.

For me, it's a product line PLUS a lifestyle. NYR Organic is more a lifestyle company.

It's a group of like-minded people coming together to live as green and chemical free as we can. ANY SHADE of green. ANY amount of cutting chemical exposure.

Just as buying ANYTHING organic when you grocery shop cuts your toxin exposure, I believe that even making some small changes such as using safer skin care, soap, cosmetics and herbal remedies can make a huge difference over the course of years. And don't get me started on all the amazing benefits of essential oils!

NYR's lifestyle and home business opportunity is unique and appeals to anyone wanting to live more consciously in all ways.

So to cut it short right here, let me add some links I recommend and you can check out whichever ones appeal to you. I'd love to connect online with you!

Top 10 reasons why June is the best month to start your own home business!

As an advocate of the direct sales industry, I believe ANY time is a great time to make that decision to start your own home business.

But sometimes I feel that June may be the best month of all.

See, the Fall months are typically the busiest for sales. Some even say the whole year EXCEPT summer is great for sales. But others know that we are heading into a beautiful season for growing a garden. What I mean is planting seeds.
Not everyone can join a home business and instantly have success. It takes time to tell people about it, to get to know the line, to be able to order enough products to share, to do some company training, get a feel for your team, listen to company phone calls, etc.

So joining NOW enables you to have the next 3 months to do all that AND start earning money. I mean, why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?

To sum it up, here's my top 10 reasons (in no particular order) to start your direct sales business in JUNE:

1- Use your products all summer as end of the year teacher gifts, grad gifts, BBQ hostess gifts, etc. Shop at your own store at your company discount from the convenience of your home!

2-The amount of people you see in the summer is usually HUGE- between pool parties, family reunions, end of year school events and social gatherings, you have the opportunity to pass out catalogs and samples to hundreds of people.

3- It's great to be able to get on the current and older company training calls and webinars in some typically slower sales months. Learn all you can so when the PEAK retail season comes, after back-to-school time, you are ready and you are educated on your new business and company policies, products and info!

4- Many people are home for the summer- including college "kids" and teachers, and some are looking to start a part time business. You have a nice audience to market to if you want to start team building.

5- Most DS companies have their summer conference in August and introduce new catalogs and product lines then. You definitely want to be ion board when that happens! And if you can make it to conference, all the better for a fast start for you!

6- Joining now gives you time to try the line. Some companies, like mine, have extensive lines, so being able to replace products in your home with new company products will enable you to speak truthfully and passionately about products you have used.

7- Many fall festivals and vendor events are listed in the summer and if you plan on doing them, you need to book it in the summer, not wait until last minute when other established reps already have them spoken for.

8- Downtime- Many moms have more downtime in the summer to do things like label catalogs, create business binders, print labels and flyers, and build an entire office space so when the kids DO go back to school, mom can dive right in and spend time out there marketing, not on the little stuff.

9- If you do plan on doing events in the fall, you'll want to have a nice inventory. This gives you 3 months to build it up.

10- There's a saying-"The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the next best time is now. The sooner you join, the sooner you will see success. Don't put things off. Often when we do, we say things like " I should've joined last year". Don't let that happen. Do it NOW!

and last, I should add, there's no reason you need to wait to start earning. You can join a DS company TODAY, and book a party next week and earn a few hundred dollars right off the bat! You can have an open house, a kit opening party, or book events for summer! You can start team building on your very first day. You can market online every single day even from a beach or on vacation.  It's all about how much or how little effort you put into it. If you can dream it, you can do it!

Simple Ways to Promote Your Direct Sales Business OFFLINE

Though online marketing is a great way to expand, marketing in your own home town  is a way to earn daily cash from on the spot sales, book parties, meet people at vendor events and to make new contacts and expand your team . It also establishes you as a leader and Successful Mom in your own community.

Not sure where to start? Making yourself a product of your product  is the first point. No one can speak with passion about a product line if they don't use it or believe in it. Fill your house with your products, wear them, share them, use them, eat them, whatever it is.  Sharing your business online and offline is always the best way to grow it.

Facebook is one of the best ways for marketing online. Most of my team and sales are from Facebook. Love it or hate it, it's a powerful way to market a business. But that's a whole 'nother blog.

For now, let's talk about marketing offline and locally, which, let's face it, we all need to do in person work a bit more and not just wait for those online sales.
So what else can you do?

Bumber stickers work. If you don't believe that, tell me what you look at when you're at the next red light.
Even better than bumper stickers, car magnets draw attention even when they are parked.
I know reps who even leave brochures in a "take one" acrylic holder on the back of their car when parked at a mall or  zoo or busy area.
Business cards go without saying. Having a picture of yourself makes it personal ,then add basic contact details .
Sizzle cards can be a flashy option too. A  generic statement or question that people can relate too ( "Too broke to pay your bills?")  can make people think "what if" and definitely make them head over to your website to take a look.

More HOT ways to promote in your town:

* Tape a business card to a lollipop. Write "Ask me about a sweet way to earn money" and give out when you meet people.

*When staying at hotels & motels leave a brochure, business card with your tip for the maid and servers

*Offer store owners a free gift or a personal discount for helping you spread the word about your business by leaving brochures, business cards or actual product on their counters

*Churches often hold a Spring, Fall or Holiday Fairs. Contact them about getting a table or a booth.

*Do a contest/ drawing at these types of events. Make up entry blanks that gather the customers info so that you can initiate contact with them again.Have a box they can check if they are interested in making money at home.

* Invite other local Moms to meet at the park  or a local Panera bread type restaurant for an informal business opportunity meeting. Give them a free gift for coming or  something more if they bring a friend.

 * Join your local area chamber of commerce. They  hold local business events that you can participate in.Better yet, you are networking with other professionals who know the value of working for themselves and may take a look at your opportunity.

*College Campuses. Dorms - Don't rule out money hungry starving young entrepreneurs.

*Contact your local area Welcome Wagon or Welcome to the Neighborhood Group! Ask them about you leaving brochures, fliers, business cards, discount coupons, samples, etc with them.
They are always looking for additional items to place in their Welcome Bags.

*Waiting rooms are perfect spots to leave brochures and business cards. And not just doctors and dentists. Don't forget car dealerships, tanning salons , nail and hair salons, automotive shops, etc.

*Local Area Job Fairs. Get a booth and set up info about  your business opportunity. These can be very expensive and you may want to split the booth and the prospects with a few other fellow reps.

*Target your local area gyms. You can get a table space for $20 or so in most cases. You can sell products or just set up an informal business opportunity , handing out samples and business info.

*Network with others in your community who are in home business. Find out what events and activities that they participate in. Nowadays "vendor parties" are getting more popular where the host will have 3 or 4 different reps of different companies come to her home on a given day/night. This brings in more guest and saves you from having to do the big "stand up and make a presentation".

*Advertise in Small Home Town Newspapers.

*Advertise around your home.  Let mailbox signs and  lawn signs do the work for you.

*Contact local area pizza shops, diners, deli's and coffee bagel shops to ask them about advertising on their paper placemats. Customers do read those ads.

*Hold a community or Block Party at your home, neighborhood or local community center. Families are always looking for something to do during the nice weather seasons. Invite other vendors, local musicians, crafters, etc..Get out there in your community and get your business seen.Be a sponser

*Get your business information printed up on pencils and hand them out or leave them places.

*Get your business info printed up on balloons. This is very economical to do and what kid doesn't love a balloon no matter what it says? Distribute them to local community centers, sporting events, street fairs, town days, etc.Your business name & website address is all you need on them.

*Get some T-shirts printed up with your business information on it and hand them out to some friends, family and co-workers .Ask them to wear them out and about in the community. This is their FREE gift for helping you to spread the word about your business.

*Wear a business name tag every time you go out into your community! Get a Catchy Slogan printed on it such as:
Ask me about (your company name)or I work from home, you can too! How many years did this work for HerbaLife, Avon and others?

*Put an AD in the back of local high school yearbook or a dance recital book.

*Like having home parties? Buy Smarties Candies. Attach a business card to them . On the back of the card, write "Be a Smartie, have a party and earn free products".   Hand them out every where you go.

*Go to the library and see if they have a bin where people can donate magazines. If so, add your brochures.

*Print your website on matchbooks for promotion.

* Home parties , flea markets, fall festivals.....all ways to promote your product and your home business opportunity.

The Absolute Quickest Path to Success

The absolute quickest path to success. Did that make you want to read more? Wouldn't it be great if there was a shortcut to success or a TRICK that we could learn to use and BING! INSTANT SUCCESS!!

See, I don't know the quickest path to success actually.

But my 14 years in the industry has taught me some great shortcuts to failure.

Here's my observations on the absolute quickest path to failure:

Don't use your company's full line of products. And when you DO use one, always look for the worst in it and be critical.

Don't share with friends. They may think you're silly. And don't never give your products as gifts. EVER.

Don't order catalogs and hand them out. And if you do, don't even think of ordering more and doing this weekly. Just do it once.

Don't pick up the phone and call people. Why bother them right?

Don't post consistently on your social media channels. Put up 1 post here and there about your biz. and make it sound very generic. very serious. with no passion.

Don't work your biz daily. Take time to be with the kids. After all, THAT is more important right now.
15 minutes a week of work is more than enough.

Don't call in to company training. You know everything already and besides, there's a sink full of dishes that needs to be done. And on top of that, you're TIRED! Get some beauty sleep.

Don't go to company events and mingle with the leaders.Don't listen to the owners. and surely don't learn anything about self growth. What's that all about?

Don't think about calling your sponsor. A- you don't have time. and B- Surely they don't have time for you.

Don't be passionate. I mean, there are a lot of other lines better than yours right?

Don't get personal. People just LOVE to see blatant ads with no personal experience. Blast them with ads here and there. Or every day. If you're not too tired ( see "beauty sleep" above)

Don't make business cards. People just toss them out anyway right?

Don't answer the phone if it rings. How can you possibly talk and sound like a "real" work at home Mom with that 3 year old whining in the background?

Don't write your goals. I mean, that's IF you have any. And if you do, yeah, don't write them because you may lose the paper. And you DEFINITELY won't reach them. So just save the effort and don't make ANY GOALS. Easy peasy that way.( and take a nap - see 'beauty sleep above)

hhhmm, what else? I guess I could dredge up a few more. Whatever you do, don't make too much effort because after all, getting out of your comfort zone, is, quite frankly, uncomfortable.

Don't ever do that.

And last, don't keep going. Don't stay committed. Don't know with certainty that you can reach goals taking daily actions steps. Don't think of trying harder or doing more. Don't reach for the stars. Don't expect success.  Don't dream. and don't dream BIG if you are going to dream.

Letting go of what holds you back

If you are not a complete believer in your products and your company, you're gonna have BIG problems growing it. It's true. I know firsthand.

So letting go of doubts and fears is where you need to focus on before you even try to grow a business.

I had a gal say to me recently that she didn't want to join a certain company because she thought their prices were too high and no one she knows can afford them. Well, the latter is an assumption, of course, since we can't speak for other people. but the DOUBT in her mind over prices was a hurdle that in the past I would have spent a lot of time trying to convince her is false.
I just can't waste that time anymore.
You see, unless SHE is fully in belief that the products are well worth the price, then that conviction will be sensed by her potential customers , just as a dog senses fear.

So she will struggle and she will quit. And I would have wasted a lot of my time. I prefer to spend time now helping people get started in home business and get the resources they need, not try to convince them or change personal beliefs. We also can't go into "management mode" with our team. It's a big waste of time. Spending that time growing our personal business by gaining new customers, making new connections and gaining new reps is more important than micro-managing a team of capable adults, don't you think?

If you have doubts about yourself, maybe a doubt that you CAN make money or you CAN be a leader in your company, for sure those doubts will hold you back.
I used to think that myself....now I KNOW that I am as good as any leader out there...it's just that we all have personal styles and abilities we bring to the plate.

Letting go of doubt and fear is the single most important thing you can do NOW.

Get some books, audio's, go to trainings, work with someone, whatever it takes.
But kick that fear in the butt and replace it with deep down BELIEF.

You can do it!
~Deb

It's really all about ALIGNMENT and being true to yourself, as I have learned from past trial and error.
If you find a business that aligns with your life, your spirit, your whole way of living, then RUN WITH IT, LIVE IT, BREATHE IT and ENJOY IT because it will never feel like work again and every day your passion will help you create success and feel balanced and fulfilled in all ways. Enjoy!

Passion fuels productivity

I've said that before and I keep saying it.
Passion fuels productivity.

It's so hard to be productive when you have no passion.
We all know that just from mundane tasks like cleaning the house.
But what about when we are in home biz?

I know, for ME, if I am not passionate, then I will not go far. It's plain and simple.

So listen to your heart, in life and in home business, because when you choose to do that, you will find what you are passionate about it and it WILL be a wild and fun ride! Make each day fun and productive and see massive results. Come from the HEART in all you do. Help as many people as you can, and in turn, you will help yourself big time!

What  are some of your best tips to fueling your fire and being productive?

Team Building in direct sales/mlm

You're new to a home biz in direct sales and want to start a team or maybe have one but feel like it's not growing fast enough?

Who can you get to join your team?

It happens to many people in direct sales as they start to grow their businesses and their teams. They get "stuck" and say " I ran out of people to ask" or " I don't know HOW to find people to join my team".

Well, since there are quite a few BILLION people on this earth and most likely you have hundreds already on your Facebook friend list as well as know hundreds others in your daily routine, why not start there?

So, who may be looking for a home business and may be looking to work from home? (Don't pre-judge ANYONE!)

People who need extra money ( which is quite a few right?)

People you have worked with in the past

People who crave freedom in their schedules

People who are laid off or unemployed

People who are retired and need some extra cash

New Moms who want to be home

High energy positive people

The teller at the bank

The receptionist at the dentist office

The bus driver

The teacher who is off all summer

The nurse

The Mom friends at the bus stop

The pizza delivery person

People at your husband's office

Real estate agents

Small business owners

The waitress or waiter

Your hairdresser or nail girl or salon owner

Anyone who is unhappy with their income

Anyone who has big dreams- to travel more, move to a larger home, pay off bills.

Who else can you think of?

Let them know about your business.
Let them know about the potential it can offer them if they join.
Learn more about the keywords you need to use when talking to potential recruits. There are 4 main ones: FUN, MONEY, FACTS, HELP

Those who like a FUN business will pick up on statements like how much FUN it is to be part of the company.

Include income statements , like "my upline is a  multiple 6 figure earner in less than a year" to appeal to those seeking MONEY.

The people who like the FACTS need to hear growth figures and key stats about your company.

Those who are natural HELPERS love how you and your leaders are HELPING people and how they can HELP others by being a part of your business too.

Got it? And you can do that all in a few simple sentences combining those things. " EXAMPLE:  My friend and sponser MARY  is such  an awesome and inspiring  leader, earning over 20,000 a MONTH helping people ( lose weight, make money, have successful parties, whatever it is) and she is having  so much FUN  doing it. The company itself grew by 3000% last year and is currently having over 200 people A DAY join!"

Good Luck!

Tell me, what has worked best for you in growing your team?
What do you struggle with?

Use your tax return wisely and invest in TIME FREEDOM

So here it is, tax time again.

A time of dread for those of you who owe money.

But a time of anticipation for those of you getting a check back.

And already I am hearing commercials of places that want your heard earned tax money.

The bedding place says GET A BED, it's where you spend 1/3 of your life.

The auto place says, use your money to finally FIX your CAR.

The furniture store says there's NEVER been a better time to buy a new couch( really?)

And probably dozens more.

But I , and everyone in home business, have a better idea for you.

Remember when you went to that jewelry party or skin care party and saw how many orders the consultant took and you thought, wow, she's making some goood money tonight!

Or when you see a facebook friend in a direct sales business announcing that she's going on the company incentive cruise?

Or when you hear your work at home friend never misses class events because she has flexible time freedom?

Does a part of you long for that freedom?

Then join a home business. it's as simple as that and can be a HUGE change in your income and future.

Take some of your tax return and INVEST IN YOU, YOUR FAMILY and YOUR FUTURE!

Because , really, the future starts right now, doesn't it?

and the kids aren't getting any younger( not to mention US)

So for a few HUNDRED dollars only- we're not talking franchise fees of thousands!), you can join a direct sales/network marketing company of YOUR choice.

You get supplies, you get free training and you get the ability to work from home, in your town and ONLINE.

Do you spend 1-3 hours a day online or on facebook?

Then you certainly can market your business online in that time!

And the bonuses and perks of working at home range from tax write -offs, freedom of your time, flexibility, discounted products ( find a line you love and would buy anyway ), free vacations if you earn them, bonus checks, residual checks( this is a very exciting part- where you earn on the work of others!) and so much more.

Like the tremendously fast growing ORGANIC trend? Then take a peek here at a business you can run with no website or monthly fees and products women( and men) really want!

Need more ideas?
Hop over to wahm.com , go to the DSA site ( Direct selling), look at mlm.com, or try message boards on mom sites like cafemom. All will have info you seek.

See my post on how to pick a company and what you should look for here

So...what are YOU going to do with your tax refund? Will you start a home business?
Social selling is all the rage...don't let it pass you by!

Follow up is critical

Short story here but so so important in the direct sales business.

So listen...if you are in a direct sales biz, don't forget to FOLLOW UP FOLLOW UP FOLLOW UP!

It's critical to success.

Personal story;  I contacted a few reps for info and samples recently. One sent samples and NEVER followed up. EVER.

Another gal I wrote a "thank you but not interested at this time" e-mail and I never heard back.( she could have written"thank you for letting me know. May I contact you in the future to see if you would be interested then?"

and a 3rd followed up a few times until I said I'm not sure at this time and then she disappeared ( what happens if I decided next week or next month that I AM interested?)

 hhhmmm...makes you think huh?

Make your contact list and keep people on it. Connect on facebook if you aren't already. Remind potential customers or reps of new company happenings and sales.

They say that people don't make up their mind right away and they often need 10+ exposures before the buy ( or join).

Stay friendly, stay connected ( find what you have in common and bond over it), send an e-mail here and there, send a postcard or greeting card and always follow up more than once!  The fortune is in the follow up

10 things to look for when joining an MLM/direct sales company

One day, maybe today, you are going to decide that working for someone else and making THEM rich is just not cutting it for YOU anymore...as your bills stack up or you dream of vacations you don't get to take.
I've been there. I know.
And I have enough successful friends in many different MLM's to see the different plans and all they offer and some of the differences.

Let me start by saying that starting your OWN HOME BUSINESS by joining a home biz is a superb decision.
They don't discriminate and you don't have to fill applications and wait. You can do it today.
No college? No problem. No experience? Perfect! You get free training, daily support and you choose the vacation days. How great is that? But the MAJOR KEY FACTOR, the BIG SELLING POINT, is the UNLIMITED POTENTIAL. ALL CAPS- yes, sorry! It's THAT exciting :-)

Its' the type of business where generally you work hard for a few years and then the residual kicks in and you work "light" and make the same of not MORE income. No other company offers that does it?

While there are many points to look at when deciding which company to join, here's my top 10 things to look for when joining an MLM/direct sales company:

1) A company with a product you use and believe in. If you don't have 100% belief,  more than likely that will be conveyed. If you enjoy it, you will be naturally passionate about it.

2) A company focused on customers not just recruiting and team building. Customers are the bread and butter of your business. If they love it , they even may, in turn, become a promoter. But focus on sharing the product first and growing a large customer base.

3) A reputable company- listed with the DSA or BBB and with live support by phone for customers and promoters.

4) A company with a product that is consumable (  think repeat sales), that is affordable and is wanted to many people not a small minority of folks.

5) A company with a reasonable start up investment. Some people would say under $500. Others say under $125 or so. But either way, it should get you products, samples, brochures and training materials.

6) A company with an autoship around $100 or less or a personal requirement of the same. And the ability to earn on your team without that amount going to crazy volumes. Keep in mind that if you don't do parties, it's hard to reach $500 or more in sales volume each and every month to earn on a team unless you have a ton of regular customers.

7)  A company wth the ability to use the internet to market your business without too many restrictions. This IS the new way to build a business in conjunction with local methods.

8) A company that does not restrict you from joining another MLM. Sorry, I know quite a few have this in their "independent promoter" contract or agreement but if we ARE indeed independent, how can they tell us what we can do?

9)  A company with at least 25% in earnings on your sales plus incentives like cash bonuses and trips.

10) Last, a company of integrity and popularity. A simple online search should yield many positive results from current promoters and customers and a consistent presence in the market that equals to annual growth.

Happy searching!

Multiple streams of income?

Even just saying it-"multiple streams of income"- sounds good doesn't it? I know I like it.

In these times, though, it's not just about sounding good, it's sort of a must isn't it? A definite reality. And it's really like insurance too. Those of us in network marketing have seen companies shut their doors overnight and leave reps without a check or a phone number to call. Poof! Gone! I can only imagine what that would feel like. UGH

Some people choose to work to Mlm's and as long as there is nothing in your agreement against it, I say why not? I know people that will argue that point, by hey, to each their own, right? That seems to be my new saying :-)

Other people choose to work one MLM/direct sales company but branch off and earn other lines of income in similar areas, like selling affiliate programs that are network marketing training, offering pay services, writing e-books and making money from personal blogs based on a passion or hobby they have, just to name a few. I think travel blogs are GREAT and so informative  too, and I'm looking into starting a Long Island one for Moms. You can look into it here. Not pricey at all.

A blog post coming soon will go over what to look for when joining a direct sales/MLM company but one thing I always like to see is that we are "independent contractors" and free to participate in other MLM companies. I mean, we ARE independent reps right? So how can they say otherwise?

I have been a member of wahm.com for 5 years now and have seen many Moms grow nice businesses only to have the company shut down totally and always unexpectedly. With start ups, it's even more risky.  And it's plain SCARY to lose an income. I've never experienced that in my business but I have experienced loss of income when my husband passed away. When you have kids, it's pretty frightening.

So what are you waiting for? Don't put all your eggs in one basket....see what ways you can branch out and even make a hobby into another source of income. How about writing paid articles? Working affiliate programs? Selling on ebay or amazon? Building a site and working affiliate programs?  Those are just a few ideas...

I hope you can find ways to earn many pay checks this month. And to keep them growing month after month after month.

Sleep late, play with children, and take siesta. Many times LESS IS MORE

Sometimes we strive for too much. We have to learn to live in the NOW and to REVEL in simplicty. It's really the way to true happiness, don't you think? I read this recently, can't take credit and don't know who wrote it, but I find it's a good way to make you think.
Read :

“A vacationing American businessman standing on the pier of a quaint coastal fishing village in southern Mexico watched as a small boat with just one young Mexican fisherman pulled into the dock. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. Enjoying the warmth of the early afternoon sun, the American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish.

“How long did it take you to catch them?” the American casually asked.

“Oh, a few hours,” the Mexican fisherman replied.

“Why don’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” the American businessman then asked.

The Mexican warmly replied, “With this I have more than enough to support my family’s needs.”

The businessman then became serious, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

Responding with a smile, the Mexican fisherman answered, “I sleep late, play with my children, watch ballgames, and take siesta with my wife. Sometimes in the evenings I take a stroll into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, sing a few songs…”

The American businessman impatiently interrupted, “Look, I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you to be more profitable. You can start by fishing several hours longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra money, you can buy a bigger boat. With the additional income that larger boat will bring, before long you can buy a second boat, then a third one, and so on, until you have an entire fleet of fishing boats.”

Proud of his own sharp thinking, he excitedly elaborated a grand scheme which could bring even bigger profits, “Then, instead of selling your catch to a middleman you’ll be able to sell your fish directly to the processor, or even open your own cannery. Eventually, you could control the product, processing and distribution. You could leave this tiny coastal village and move to Mexico City, or possibly even Los Angeles or New York City, where you could even further expand your enterprise.”

Having never thought of such things, the Mexican fisherman asked, “But how long will all this take?”

After a rapid mental calculation, the Harvard MBA pronounced, “Probably about 15-20 years, maybe less if you work really hard.”

“And then what, seƱor?” asked the fisherman.

“Why, that’s the best part!” answered the businessman with a laugh. “When the time is right, you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions.”

“Millions? Really? What would I do with it all?” asked the young fisherman in disbelief.

The businessman boasted, “Then you could happily retire with all the money you’ve made. You could move to a quaint coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, play with your grandchildren, watch ballgames, and take siesta with your wife. You could stroll to the village in the evenings where you could play the guitar and sing with your friends all you want.”

What do you think of that? Do you envy the young fisherman who is not wasting 15 years or more of his life in search of bigger, better and more?

Don't miss out on easy freebies, discounts and earnings opportunities!

If you're a Mom who appreciates some freebies, or rewards for spending a little time answering questions or filling forms, there are tons of ways to earn online, in your spare time. Or to cash in on companies that offer reward programs. Take Stonyfield for example. If you buy their yogurt, why wouldn't you spend time typing in the reward code online? I just cashed in for a free box of nature's path cereal, which we LOVE btw( the pumpkin flax granola is awesome and it's all organic-can't beat it!) And that's not the first time I've cashed in.
Anytime you buy a product, check to see if they have a reward program or a facebook page ( many do).

Liking a company's Facebook page is important to do. The pages often offer specials to keep you coming back for more. I've won Derme E face cream, Mychelle skin care, vitamins and even an overnight hotel stay. Facebook is more than hanging with friends. Make a list of your favorite pages, keep them in your feed and enter their contests or reply to their updates.

Many stores offer reward programs. They want you to keep coming back and they will reward you for that. Stop n Shop offers the gas reward program where you can save between 10-50 cents a gallon at participating Shell stations.
Don't forget that many stores offer discounts you can print out or even show on a smart phone. CVS sends 25% off to your card when you click the offer. Bob's clothing store sends me about 3 $10 free coupons a year. The local Ace hardware sent me a free $5 coupon and a $5 off $15 when I signed up for their rewards card. Keep on the look out every store you go to. You don't even have to carry all those cards. I know I'd need a bigger wallet! Many stores just let you punch in your phone number associated with the account.Don't let free money pass you by.

Jingit offers online video viewing ( under a minute most times) then you answer a few questions and earn cash. You can also do check ins at Walmart, by scanning certain products and earn cash to a debit card. I got 3 gallons of gas last week, for my little time, and I'll take it.With all the running around us Moms do, it all helps.

I just got a free year long magazine subscription to OPRAH ( great mag!!) for clicking on a few videos and answering a few questions on RECYCLEBANK. It also teaches us ways to go green and reminds us to take daily action in our homes. the kids can help you with this one too and they'll learn a lot.

Have a lot of items around the house that you'd like to get rid of without paying listing fees, having strangers come to your home or having a yard sale? You can join LISTIA for free , list items you want to get rid of and people bid on them with points. There's NO cash exchanged( but you pay for shipping out your items)and you earn points to bid on other items you'd like. Most ship free so you won't even have to pay shipping when winning a bid.

Online survey sites like Survey Savvy, Opinion Outpost, Epoll, Mommytalk surveys and Paidviewpoint are good ways to earn some extra cash without leaving home and some even have referral programs so you can earn a little extra by simply sharing your link. Think how many facebook friends you have, or blog readers, who may want some extra cash.

Like more free stuff? Who doesn't? Check out the many freebies sites a simple google search can yield, like freebies.com, gofreebies.com, freebieshark.com and freebies4mom.com. There are TONS more too!

Need to earn some cash in your spre time? Can you write? There are many sites that pay for writing articles. See the list a few blog spots below to get you started checking into them.

I've found that very few people will actually tell you how much they are struggling. But taking advantage of freebies can be very helpful for them! And in this economy , it's really helpful for everyone.

EXCUSES

Reading Dani Johnson's book First Steps to Wealth right now. About half way through and it's highlighted, jotted with notes, circles, exclamation points and underlines!

On my personal journey of growth, I have decided to let myself be slapped in the face by some of the statements she makes. Not in a bad way. It's actually a Cher-esque "Snap out of it" style slap.

I am STOPPING making excuses Right now. I proclaim this virtually, on paper and out loud.

Wanna hear some great INSPIRING and thought provoking things she says?

"Taking responsibility puts you in control-and it ultimately takes your life to the next level"

"Nothing becomes dynamic until you become specific" ( have concrete goals)

"You are in complete control"

"You always have a choice"

"You can design your life"
( these are nothing that we don't hear from other entrepreneurs but the more we hear them, the more we say them, the more we hang them all over our house, the more we "get it")

"Find people who have what you have and do what they do"

" I have found that people spend more time creating excuses than they do creating results"

Credit ~Dani Johnson at danijohnson.com

So , today, I am sending my excuses packing and making only empowering choices to live a lifestyle of my choice...wealthy, healthy, and happier than ever! Wealth does not mean gold , expensive cars, huge houses and Italian marble to me- wealth means more of freedom and the ability to make a difference in the world by being able to give.

By the way, the book is FREE through her site...you just pay shipping I believe. There are so other of her programs in the sidebar here that I will be getting to shortly and were highly recommended to me.
